Skilled Migration Visas 189, 190 and 491

This program is designed to attract skilled workers who can make a significant contribution to the Australian economy and fill positions that are not covered by Australian workers. It is proven that skilled migrants contribute significantly to economic growth, which in turn creates more jobs.

Sub class 189

A permenant visa that is applied for by gaining points against certain criteria, take the test here. This will allow you to live and work anywhere in Australia.

What you need...

1. Have enough points,

​

2. Have an occupation on the Medium and Long Term Strategic list,

​

3. At least a score of 6 in IELTS or be an exempt passport holder,

​

4. Receive an invitation,

​

5. Complete a skills assessment,

​

6. Get a health assessment,

​

7. Be of good character.

Subclass 190

A permanent visa applied for through a State or Territory, different criteria may vary slightly and you must live and work in that State/Territory. Points are required, to check your eligibility here.

 

What you need...

 

1. Have enough points,

2. Have an occupation on the relevant State or Territories list.

​

3. At least a score of 6 in IELTS or be an exempt passport holder,

​

4. Receive an invitation,

​

5. Complete a skills assessment,

​

6. Get a health assessment,

​

7. Be of good character.

Sub class 491

A temporary visa for 5 years with a pathway to permanent residency after 3 years. Applied for by gaining points and living and working in a regional area in the State or Territory the visa is granted for. There are more occupations available and a family member who is living regionally can sponsor. Extra points are given, check your eligibility here.

3. At least a score of 6 in IELTS or be an exempt passport holder,

4. Receive an invitation or be sponsored,

​

5. Complete a skills assessment,

​

6. Get a health assessment,

​

7. Be of good character.

​
